mutamyst2.jpg (12562 bytes) On July 16, 1999, the Malone Community Center and Nebraska Arts Council sponsored a spoken word and poetry presentation by Mutabaruka.

During this hour-long recital, Muta discusses some of the experiences from which his poetry emerges.  Muta reasons about the formation of the Rastafarian culture and expresses some of his views on politics, religion, neocolonialism and drugs.  "Religion is created by insecure men to oppress women" declares Muta, who also recites many of his poems which have appeared on his recordings and poetry books.
